IFA agree barley price with Minch Norton

A 1999 feed barley price of £78.20 per tonne was agreed between IFA and Minch Norton in negotiations this week. This will operate as the base price on which malting barley premiums will be paid. The price is for 20 per cent moisture content and excludes VAT.

The deal covers malting barley grown on contract for Minch Norton, Drummonds and Williams Waller.

This agreed price is £3.30 higher than that of last year. Dairygold have earlier set a feed barley price of £78 per tonne while glanbia announced a price of £76 per tonne plus a market review later in the grain trading season. Last year this review added £3 per tonne. Dairygold is paying a basic £90 for malting barley.
