New moves at SJAI office

By Michael Slavin

In the ever shifting saga of SJAI Office Management a new twist was added at last week's National Executive meeting.

Executive member for Munster Norman Wheeler has been drafted in to help manage financial matters at the office. He is Munster chairman, has wide business experience and is also director of the Clonshire International Horse Show.

He joins another Executive member Jerry Thompson, who has been helping out in the results department for some weeks now.

Meantime Richard Lyttle is still employed on a part time basis as business director of the Association. He began work at the beginning of October.

Tony Kelly continues on in his new role as Director General with responsibility for sport.

All of this is the National Executive's rather laboured effort at fulfilling the wishes of its members at the last AGM in October to divide up responsibilities in the office Management.

Their decision making process is a rather unwieldy one involving 20 members elected out of the four regions.

In the short term, at least this is not about to be changed since elections for the Leinster Region are already underway. The other regions will soon follow suit at their AGMs.

Those regional committees will each then nominate its five members to the National Executive and the major national committees.
