 Milk Quotas: No "scorched earth" policy The legal implications of the proposed new milk quota changes will be examined in Brussels next week at talks between Department of Agriculture and EU Commission officials. Who wants sheep quota? Numbers of cattle, sheep, pigs and poultry have fallen on Northern Ireland farms and the area under cereals this year was also down on 1998 levels. The total number of farm businesses dropped by 2 per cent with 3 per cent fewer farmers and farm workers. Confusion in the dairy farm market The market for dairy farms has been thrown into total confusion by the absence of concrete information on the proposed changes to the milk quota regime. |
