Welger unveil 'biggest round baler in Europe'

Welger are set to unveil the new RP520 at Agritechnica. This model, the biggest round baler in Europe, produces bales up to 2m in diameter and features a variable compression chamber so that bales as small as 1.1m in diameter can also be made.

Welger claim that the RP520 (below) can produce much denser bales than those made by any existing machines. Claimed throughput is 20t/hour, a figure more usually associated with big square baling.

According to Welger the larger denser bales produced by the RP520 will help reduce handling costs and was the motivation behind the development of the machines.

Prices of the new balers, which feature glass-reinforced plastic cover panels, are yet to be announced. Lely Ireland have not yet announced if, and when, the balers will come onto the Irish market.
