Regional job creation in March
Banking 365, the direct banking channel for Bank of Ireland Group, has opened a call centre in Kilkenny City. They are currently recruiting part-time customer contact agents for evening positions with hours ranging from 4.30 pm to midnight.
A good telephone manner and good keyboard skills are required for the positions and training is provided. Kay Hanneffy at Banking 365 Human Resources Department at Premier House, The Square, Tallaght, Dublin 24, is accepting CVs.
Carrickmacross is to benefit by the decision of an American packaging company to locate in Co Monaghan. Associated Packaging Enterprises Inc, which produces packaging and trays for the food sector, will create up to 200 jobs.
The close proximity of the town to the Rye Valley food processing plant and the Heinz food plant at Dundalk was reportedly a factor in the company's decision to locate in Monaghan.
115 new jobs in Shannon Free Zone
Two firms in the Shannon Free Zone are to create 115 new jobs. US company Travelsavers International Inc are creating 65 jobs in a newly set-up European operations centre. Pacific Network Services (Europe) Ltd are expanding their year-old operation by creating another 50 jobs.
Thirty new jobs in Athlone
Thirty new jobs are on the cards for experienced personnel in customer service, sales, financial services and IT at One Direct, based in Athlone.
The company is involved in insurance, personal finance, protection and savings and investment products. Currently, 80 people are employed by the company.
One hundred new jobs in Mullingar
One hundred new jobs will be created in Mullingar by the end of this year at a new high level financial software research and development centre.
The company, GMAC Commercial Holding Corp, already has an existing mortgage servicing facility in the town employing over 120 people. Its activities include full back-office services in relation to commercial mortgage loans; detailed analysis of financial statements of properties on which mortgages have been made available; monitoring property insurance, and real estate tax requirements.
GMAC is headquartered in Pennsylvania, USA. The R&D centre involves an investment by the company of
€21m and is supported by IDA Ireland.
Information day at Pallaskenry College
Pallaskenry Agricultural College, Co Limerick, is opening its doors to the public on Thursday, April 18, from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm.
This will be an opportunity for school leavers to visit the college, see the educational facilities on offer and discuss career plans with members of the teaching staff.

Fifty new jobs for Waterford
Recruitment is starting immediately for a range of skilled workers, including operatives, qualified product and process technicians and professional engineers for a German company locating in Waterford.
Guehring oHG Albstadt will establish their largest coating centre of metal cutting tools at IDA Ireland's Waterford Industrial Park, where state-of-the-art equipment is currently being installed.
The centre is expected to be in production within a few months.
Coating technology
Guehring is a world leader in coating technology for metal cutting tools and one of the world's largest producers of rotating metal cutting tools.
Funding of €8 million for local enterprise
Enterprise Ireland is inviting proposals from community enterprise centres throughout the country for the establishment and expansion of micro enterprises involving local participation.
The Government has allocated €8m over two years for this initiative, which replaces the existing Enterprise Ireland Community Enterprise Centre support established in 1989.
Priority
Priority will be given to supporting centres in areas of particular need, with BMW regions and projects located in the Clár programme districts benefiting most.
Financial support will be available for recruitment of centre managers and to assist in the feasibility or pre-planning stages of a proposal.
The initiative will be administered by Enterprise Ireland who will work in close co-operation with FáS, the local authorities, county and city enterprise and development boards and Shannon Development.
