Milk imported as Irish prices cut

Dairygold, the country's biggest dairy co-op has started to import tankers of bulk manufacturing milk from the U.K. into Mallow. The imports have commenced at a time when the society has also decided to cut the price of manufacturing milk to its own suppliers by just over half a cent a litre or 2p per gallon for March milk.

Carrigallen mart debt probe

An investigation is under way into outstanding debts of over €200,000 at Carrigallen Mart, it has emerged. Last week's meeting of the board of Golden Vale Marts - owner of the Carrigallen livestock business - was briefed on the situation by the group's management and auditor.

Area aid deadline postponed

Delays in getting the 2002 Area Aid application forms out to many farmers have resulted in a postponement of the 26 April deadline to Wednesday 15 May.
