Forecast for the week ahead

Thursday/Friday

Overcast and very wet conditions across the north and west on Thursday morning will gradually move southwards during the day.

Driving conditions will be poor and localised spot flooding is likely. In the north and west the rain will ease through the late afternoon and skies should clear by evening, allowing some brightness before nightfall.

In the south and east, however, after a dry start to the day, it will turn wet during the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will reach 18 or 19 degrees Celsius and light winds will freshen from the north during the day. Rain will clear all areas during Thursday night and it will turn cool. Lowest temperatures six to nine degrees in a fresh, northerly breeze.

Feeling fresh on Friday with the recent mild, humid spell ended. Friday will be a bright, breezy day with good spells of sunshine. A few well scattered showers are possible.

Temperatures will reach 17 or 18 degrees at best in a fresh northwesterly breeze. Mainly dry Friday night and becoming cool as temperatures dip to between five and eight degrees

Saturday/Sunday

Saturday will be bright and mainly dry with sunny spells. There is a slight risk of an isolated shower and temperatures will reach 17 or 18 degrees in mostly light winds.

During Saturday evening and night it will turn windy, and mild and wet weather developing in the southwest will extend countrywide before morning.

Sunday will start overcast, mild and wet, but rain will break up into showers as the day goes on.

Outlook Monday to Wednesday

An unsettled weather regime is likely with some rain or showers each day.
