2,500 inheritance entitlements expected this week
The Department of Agriculture has confirmed to Macra na Feirme that the remaining entitlements statements for farmers who applied under the new entrants and inheritance schemes will be posted out this week.
Over 7,300 applications under the new entrants and inheritance schemes were received by the Department while many have been written to seeking further information and some have received statements or refusal notices.
Macra had expressed concerns that many of the applicants had not yet received any contact from the Department.
However, following a meeting with Department officials on Monday this week, Seamus Heverin, the vice-chairman of Macra's agricultural affairs committee, said that the Department had given Macra assurances that they would be sending out statements of entitlements to the remaining 2,500 farmers this week.
Seamus Heverin said that any applicant who has not received their statement of entitlement by 1 April should contact the Department on the dedicated low call number 1890 200 113.
He also reminded farmers who had received correspondence from the Department seeking additional information, to send it in promptly to avoid further delays in receiving their statement of entitlements.
