Potato market

Potatoes: Week commencing 04/09/06

10 kg. bag (brushed) per tonne:

British Queens: €400-450

K Pink: €500 - €550

Rooster: €450 - €500

Trade has improved due to the cooler weather and the re-opening of schools. It will be some time yet before the large maincrop areas begin harvest. Growers continue to report reduced yields particularly on un-irrigated crops.

Good washing material for the pre-pack market is achieving up to €550 per tonne boxes for K Pinks and €500 for Rooster in tonne boxes. Queens remain on the market but the volumes are small.
