IFA Pigs Chairman Michael Maguire said pig prices were unchanged this week in the range of €1.30 -€1.38. Ireland was at 95% of the EU average in April '06,and is currently on par for the first time since October 06 when EU prices fell. Rising EU prices and static Irish prices may see Ireland fall behind again. This week saw 2-3c/kg increases in prices across the major pig producing states. Nrt Ireland has also seen increases in the last 2 weeks following the lead of the UK. Processors must realise that with feed prices increasing again, producers must see increases to maintain future pig supplies.
