50 per cent SFP advance

Farmers will receive a 50% advance of the 2007 Single Farm Payment (SFP) from 16 October. EU approval of a request by the Irish Department was granted yesterday (Wednesday). The SFP balance will be paid on 1 December. The Minister added payments under the 2007 Disadvantaged Areas Scheme (DAS) will begin this Friday. These payments, worth in the region of €250m, and are payable to over 100,000 farmers.
