The British agricultural machinery manufacturer, which has 19 sites across the UK, will be looking for prospective engineers at this year’s fair. Candidates can be placed in any of their locations.

The chosen candidates will work on the full range of Claas machines, as well as other products from the dealer’s franchises.

They will be offered a structured career progression with four stages of development and will receive ongoing training at the CLAAS Academy.

The company is looking for candidates who are able to work on their own and take responsibility for the job from its initial diagnosis. Candidates should enjoy using a laptop as much as getting their hands dirty and will learn to use specialist tools to diagnose problems.

HR manager Sarah Steggall says the company is looking for someone who will “enjoy the fact that no two jobs are ever the same – at CLAAS, we have a variety of manufacturers’ engines, for example Mercedes, Perkins, CAT, Fiat and JD.”

Skilled

The role is varied and service engineers have to be skilled technicians as well as having customer relations skills. They will be working with technologies such as GPS, Telematics and Laser Pilot, which are used in other industries, like aerospace engineering.

A service engineer working with the company will receive a salary based on their experience, have a company van, phone and laptop, have tool insurance up to £15,000 as standard and will also have life assurance.

Representatives from the company will be present on the day to discuss the roles further. The number of roles Claas will be recruiting will be confirmed closer to 30 March.
