The Race Is On, a chart-topping number for American county legend George Jones in former times, could well be the theme song for the big evening at Limerick Racecourse on Thursday 23 July. A card of seven National Hunt races will be complemented by a special performance by country star Mike Denver and his band, who take to the stage at 8.30pm.

This will be Mike’s first time to entertain the folks at Limerick Racecourse, and it is further endorsement of a growing trend pioneered at the Curragh and other racecourses, whereby major names from the country circuit have blended so well into the social aspect of evening race meetings.

The Limerick Racecourse committee has spared no effort in promoting this special evening of racing and county music. It is confident that it will also serve to attract a new clientele along with the regular patrons.

Mike has recorded 13 albums and four DVDs. Throw numerous television appearances into the mix and you can see how much in demand the man from Portumna has been over the last decade or so. When it comes to vacation time, he still loves his regular trips to America, especially Las Vegas.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting all my racing fans at Limerick Racecourse on Thursday 23 July. The racing starts at 5:30pm and, after three hours of racing action, we will be on stage at 8.30pm for the next few hours. It should be a terrific evening and night, and we hope many of our followers will be there to soak up the atmosphere,” says Mike.

The country concert is part of a great overall package of entertainment at Limerick Racecourse. Catering is provided by the team from Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel, Adare, guaranteeing all racing patrons friendly staff, excellent service and superb cuisine when you dine with them on race day.

Ladies are invited to dress-to-impress for The Crescent Shopping Centre Twilight Most Stylish Lady Competition. One lucky winner will receive a prize valued at €300 for Nevilles Jewellers and Prima Donna in the Crescent Shopping Centre.
