Visitors to the Crops and Cultivation open day at Oak Park, Co Carlow, on Wednesday 28 June can expect to see a busy machinery cultivation demonstration.

All participants in the arena will have a plot area of approximately 1,600m² to demonstrate their machines in each of the following establishment methods: plough-based systems, minimum cultivation and direct drilling or strip-till.

Dermot Forristal and Andy Doyle will give commentary on each system. Actual seed will be used to give a real-life feel, and to let the public see how the seedbed is created from each method of establishment and between each machine in the demonstration.

According to Dermot, the aim of the demo is to highlight to growers what options are available and the suitability for adopting new techniques on their farms.

Every exhibitor who takes a place in the demonstration will have to leave a finished seedbed at the end.

Outside of the central demonstration area, a parade ring of stands on all cultivation machinery will flank the main arena.

If you have any questions, there will be a demonstration on the application process for TAMS II and the machine criteria for the scheme.
