The board of Dairygold decided on Thursday to increase the price for milk supplied in July by 1c/l.

This increase brings the July price to 32.64c/l including a 0.5c/l quality bonus and excluding VAT.

Lakeland and Glanbia increased milk prices last week by 1c/l, bringing their prices to 32.2c/l excluding VAT.

Kerry was next out of the blocks, upping its price by 1.5c/l to 32.7c/l and Carbery increased its price by 1c/l.

Speaking to the Irish Farmers Journal this week, Siobhán Talbot, Glanbia chief executive, did not comment on any future milk prices for Irish farmers but did say that dairy markets are well balanced currently.

Meanwhile, Kerry Group chief executive Stan McCarthy told this publication that a price of 32c/l to 33c/l is sustainable in the market and is a good average.
