SHEEP2010 Teagasc, UCD and Sheep Ireland, in association with Bord Bia and The Irish Farmers’ Journal, have come together to organise a major sheep event SHEEP2010 at UCD Lyons Research Farm, Newcastle, Co Dublin on Saturday 26 June.
This is the major sheep event of the year and is of particular interest to those in the sector. The event is expected to attract an attendance of up to 9,000 visitors on the day. With the current positive interest in sheep, SHEEP2010 is very timely. It will provide the opportunity for a coming together of all involved in the sector to demonstrate the many factors that can drive the Irish sheep industry forward to improve the bottom line for sheep farming. While SHEEP2010 is primarily of interest to those directly involved, most sheep farmers are also cattle producers. Therefore, the day will be of interest to all drystock farmers and the agri-food industry in general.
A comprehensive event programme, in booklet form, covering all the day’s activities will be provided and the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food will formally open the proceedings. Event costs will be covered by a small number of major sponsors, together with a number of smaller sponsors, an admission charge and a modest entrance fee for stand space.
SHEEP2010 Programme includes:
- Extensive range of commercial exhibitors
- National sheep breed competitions and displays
- Sheep dog trials and dog training demonstrations
- Fencing competition
- Cookery demonstrations in conjunction with Bord Bia
- Teagasc stands on all aspects of sheep production

- Electronic identification (EID)
