Lamb prices continue to rise, with factories increasing quotes by 5c/kg to 10c/kg for Thursday.

Base quotes range from €4.75/kg to €4.85/kg, with growing numbers of regular sellers trading on an individual basis securing returns of €4.95/kg to €5.00/kg.

Producer groups are securing returns of €5.05/kg to €5.10/kg through their bonus mechanism.

Factories are reluctant to exceed a carcase weight limit of 22.5kg, with IFA sheep chair John Lynskey commenting: “Finishers with suitable stock are now focusing on increasing carcase weight limits to 23kg and some factories have already moved on this.”
