A week on from the National Ploughing and the good weather is still with us. In last week’s issue we covered only some of the machines on show. The big manufacturers and dealers put on very impressive displays for the public and added greatly to the experience of those who attended the event.

Impressive also were the amount of machines that are designed and manufactured in Ireland. Anyone who visited the Innovation arena would have noted the technology that is rushing down the road, to help farmers with records and management.

An example of this came from a dealer showing me how he can monitor the location of all of his tractors across Ireland. The system gives him detail on the tractor’s forward speed, engine hours, and idle time.

An interesting point too is that if the tractor is doing 100 km/hr. A text alert will be sent to the farmer/contractor or dealer. This will happen if the tractor is on a low loader for service or stolen. This is useful information to combat any unplanned visitors.

We will now feature some other machines that caught our eye at the Ploughing.
