Farmer celebrates Australia Day by creating a sheep flag
Here’s an idea for patriotic sheep farmers in Ireland ahead of St Patrick’s Day. Why not create a resemblance to the national flag made up entirely of sheep?
Watch how Australian sheep farmer Hannah Marriott creates the Australian flag with sheep.
By doing so they would be following in the footsteps of Australian sheep farmer Hannah Marriott who celebrated Australia Day this week by doing just that.
As a proud Australian, the sheep farmer from Kalkallo, Victoria wished to mark the occasion on 26 January while also showing a lighter side to life on the land.
The 32-year-old coaxed the 1,030 sheep into the formation by scattering barley and lupin behind her trailer. She also manoeuvred the feed trailer to create the crisscrossed lines in the Union Jack.
And she didn’t stop there. Watch in the video how Hannah encourages the sheep to eat their way into position in a nearby paddock, spelling out ‘Oz’.
Speaking to 7 News in Australia, Hannah said, “I got up thinking, ‘What can I do to make this a bit funnier?’ So to try and make it more interesting, I thought, ‘Oh, I’ll do a flag.’”
Hannah also wanted to show her love for life on the land and send a positive message about Australia’s agricultural industry.
“I like communicating what we do to the greater public because I’m proud of it and I think we do a good job,” she said.
