IFA farm family chair Maura Canning, ICMSA president John Comer and Embrace Farm founder Brian Rohan have offered their sympathies to the families of farmers killed in workplace accidents in

The IFA’s Canning, too, called on farmers to take it one task at a time during this busy calving, lambing and planting season.

“Take your time when doing the job, do all the checks with machinery – it’s important not to be rushing,” Canning told the Irish Farmers Journal. “With the weather we’ve had, people often try to do too many things at the same time.”

“We have to be especially vigilant now during one of the busiest periods on working farms and I’d appeal to people to take extra care and be ultra conscious of safety”, added ICMSA president John Comer.

Embrace’s support group in Mullingar met last Friday night and welcomed a new family after a local farmer died last September. “We wish we would not have new members because we have so many already,” Rohan said.
