Champion Holstein Friesian went to K & S Kelly, Co Tipperary, with their senior cow Coolrue Damian Marge. This 2011 born cow also went on to take the Interbreed dairy championship. Reserve champion in the Holstein section went to the first calved heifer Danville LB Beatrice bred by Jim Mulhall from Kilkenny.

Champion Jersey went to Patrick Ahern of Rylane, Co Cork with his cow Clasyby Fantastic, she also went on to take reserve in the Interbreed Dairy Championship. Judge in the dairy section was Mervyn Kearney, Co Limerick.

Champion and reserve in the Beef Shorthorn classes went to Co Carlow breeders PJ.C. & M. Kelly, with Ricketstown Lovely an Uppermill Lovely daughter and reserve to her maternal sister Mogeely Lovely.

In the Angus section champion here went the way of Michael & Mairead Barron of Co Kilkenny, with the September ’13 born Ashtown Kate sired by Goulding Jumbo King, with the reserve also coming from the same class for Edward Dudley with Castlelough Mystic Buffy a Clonstead Ecco daughter.

The Dudley family continued collecting the honours, this time in the Hereford championship with their cow Castlelodge Kathy a Kilsunny Goliath daughter taking the top spot. In reserve was the maiden heifer class winner for Curtis & Jones Co. Wexford with Grianan Cooperobin, a Grianan Firecracker daughter.

David Pearson took the over-all for the Belgian Blue breed with his September ’14 bull calf Boherard iPad. Reserve went to Helena Fitzgerald, Co Kilkenny with Pinnacle Hardy a September ’13 born heifer.

Champion Simmental went to Garrett Behan of Ballyfin with Clonagh Dora the Explorer, a homebred senior heifer sired by the successful herd sire Banwy T-Rex. Reserve went to Seamus Aherne Co. Limerick for his September ’14 born bull calf Towerhill Freaky Friday, this one sired by Curaheen Apostle out of a home bred dam.

Champion Charolais went to the Ryan family of Thurles, Co Tipperary with Goldstar Elle, notching up her second championship win in as many weekends. Reserve went to the senior heifer Ballybrown Holly for Bobby O’Connell, this one a Luddenmore Candi-Tara daughter.

Elite Hostess for Dan Tynan Co Laois was judge Sarah McElligit’s chosen Limousin champion, this incalf heifer is by the infamous sire Wilodge Vantastic out of Ardlea Coillte. Bobby O’Connell collected another reserve title, this time with his maiden heifer Roundhill Idoine.

In the commercial judging, champion went to Helena Fitzgerald with her 2012 born BB bred heifer Gigi, with Sinead and Irwin Stanley collecting reserve with their ChxBB bullock.

Last class of the day was the beef young handlers, an impressive ten entries under the age of eighteen competed for the top spot, the eventually winner for judge James McPadden was Niamh Roche, Co. Carlow, in second was James Kelly, Co Clare and third went to Scott Pearson, Co Laois.

The Beef Interbreed Championship was an impressive display of top quality cattle, all the judges from the different breeds came together to choose the Charolais cow as their deserving over-all beef champion. This French imported cow Goldstar Elle was shown with her May born bull calf as foot, by the Ryan Family of Co Tipperary, reserve went to Dan Tynan’s incalf Limousin heifer, followed by Helena Fitzgerald’s commercial champion in third place.
