The arrests were made as part of the Gardaí's ongoing investigations into alleged animal cruelty and neglect at a farm in Co Carlow.

Gardaí began their investigation in April this year when 351 dogs and 11 horses were removed from a Co Carlow farm during an 11 day joint operation which involved An Garda Síochána, Carlow County Council and the ISPCA.

All three arrested, who are aged in their 40s, are currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Carlow Garda Station.

The Garda press office has said that further updates on the case are to follow.
