Submitted by leitrimfarmer on Sun, 30/08/2009 - 16:04

I was up at 7 this morning because our neighbour was at silage and i had to give him a hand . He made 120 bales of silage  and the fields were very wet but at least it was dry. When we had all the bales stacked in his yard he asked me would i feed his charolais weanlings with beef nuts. I went on the quad to feed them. After that me and dad went to check our heifers and then we checked the cow in the shed with a bruised foot and we batheed it in salt and water. that is what i done this morning now we are going fence wildlife for reps.

today on the farm

Submitted by leitrimfarmer on Mon, 24/08/2009 - 00:06

Hi ever

I was very busy the past 2 days because i was cutting rushes for a neighbour with a quad and i cut 40 acres and i was soaked with all the rain that fell when i was cutting the rushes. . The person said that she didn t want a tractor to cut the rushes on it because it is very wet ground and you would only bog. tomorw we are bringing the turf home of the morning because we only brought them to the road on the quad .

Well thats all for now

bye

today on the farm

Submitted by leitrimfarmer on Fri, 21/08/2009 - 22:33

Hi everyone ,

Today on the farm i was up early this morning because our cows and calves were coming out on the road in our leased land in sligo. After we had the fence fixed we checked the cattle there and we headed home . When we got home we had a cup of tea and then we started cleaning the lane two out and we disenfectted it for the winter. We then went to check on the sheep and the few bullocks around the house.

Thats all for now

The Stock Bull

Submitted by leitrimfarmer on Thu, 20/08/2009 - 22:50

Hi everyone,

Sorry i didn t post yesterday we were very busy dosing calves for worms . The stock bull is very important on any farm . If you have a good muscled bull especially charolais or a b b bull you will have a good e and u graded calf . You should always check that your bull is fertile, is good on the feet, that he can rise on a cow. We have a fullbread charolais bull and we have very strong and healty calves of him . Here is a picture of me with our charolais bulll below
