Welcome to the 2009 Irish Farmers Journal Heifer Competition. We’re giving our young readers the opportunity to win a heifer and start their own suckler herd.

If you’re between 10 and 18 years of age you can win one of the eight following breeding heifers - Aberdeen Angus, Blonde d’Aquitaine, Charolais, Hereford, Irish Angus, Limousin, Parthenaise or Simmental. Many thanks to all the breed society’s for their support of this competition.

The 8 heifers will be on display on the Irish Farmers Journal Stand at the Tullamore Show on Sunday the 9th August. The final of the competition will take place at the National Ploughing Championships in September where the finalists will be interviewed in an informal and friendly way by the Judging Committee.

See the How to Enter section for details on how to enter and remember you have 2 chances of winning – by posting or emailing your entry to the questions or by by creating one of the best profile entries on this website.

Check back for information that will be regularly updated.
