Rotospiral Mexmo

Any farm with electric fencing could make use of the Mexmo from Rotospiral engineering. It was introduced to make cutting under wire easier and quicker. The side-mounted hydraulically powered arm is mounted between the front and rear wheel of the tractor or on a front loader. The working end of the machine is a mower-disc with blades and steel cable attached. It is similar to a strimmer but stronger built and controlled from the cab via a joystick. This is in prototype format at the moment and expected retail price is to be €4,000 plus VAT.

Easy Arm bale & feeder lifter

Ballyealan Engineering demonstrated the Easy Arm ring feeder lifter. Originally introduced in 2016, the round feeder can be carried at the same time as the bale on the bale carrier. The farmer reduces the risk of injury lifting the round feeder. Also, if placing the feeder in a field of animals, he avoids potential injury walking through them. According to Daragh Regan, the Easy Arm costs €1,000 + VAT and €1,400 + VAT including the bale carrier. The unit can be fitted to all types of bale carriers.

Wilson Engineering square bale accumulator

There are a number of companies offering round bale accumulators in Ireland but not that many offering something to gather square bales. A sprung drawbar and load sensing air-brakes are available as options. Prices start from €28,500 plus VAT.

A&W Engineering three-in-one trailer

A&W Engineering introduced a three-in-one trailer. It serves as a low-loader, bale and cattle trailer. Adam from A&W Engineering said this was something that was not currently available in Ireland. The cattle body can be lifted off to allow the trailer be used for transporting bales or a low loader for equipment thanks to the bi-folding ramps.

A front and rear demountable bale rack keeps bales in place. A galvanised tank underneath the rear of the trailer takes slurry from the cattle body. Adam Niklewicz is originally from Poland came to Ireland just a few years ago with almost no English and now runs A&W engineering with Adam Niklewicz. The 3-in-1 combo trailer is priced from €23,000 + VAT.
