Weather forecast

Met Éireann has issued a yellow wind warning for the whole country from 9pm tonight until 9am Friday morning.

Overall, scattered showers will become more frequent in the west early this morning. Cloud will thicken everywhere as those showers merge to form persistent rain and extend eastwards to all areas through the rest of the morning. Temperatures will reach 10°C or 11°C today and southwest winds will be fresh to strong and from the southwest.

It will become increasingly windy through the evening and early night with near gale force winds over land, and damaging gusts and storm force winds along the north coast later in the night. There will be further scattered outbreaks of rain, turning persistent and heavy again in the west on Friday morning.
