Kerry Group met on Wednesday and agreed to increase the milk price for January.

Kerry increased milk price for January by 2c/l to 29.4c/l (excluding VAT).

This is based on milk supplied at 3.3% protein and 3.6% fat.

PPI highest in over two years

On Monday, Glanbia Ingredients Ireland (GII) announced it was increasing its January base price by 1c/l to 29.3c/l excluding VAT at 3.6% fat and 3.3% protein.

Glanbia chair Henry Corbally said that there remains significant uncertainty in the global dairy market outlook.

“The board will continue to monitor markets on a monthly basis,” he said in a statement.

Lakeland has also increased by 1c/l for milk supplied in January, bringing the price to 29.7c/l (ex VAT).

It also increased its January price by 0.5p/l in Northern Ireland, bringing it to 25p/l. Lakeland’s NI price for December was 27.5p/l but this includes a winter bonus of 3p/l.

Last week, Ornua’s purchase price index (PPI) of exported Irish dairy commodities reached its highest point since September 2014.
