Interbreed Champion

Judge on the day was Teleri Thomas, Enfield, Co Meath. Champion Limousin went to local man Owen Hester with his heifer Meelickaduff Honda. This December 2012-born heifer is sired by Wilodge Vantastic and by French dam Etole. Honda Continued to make the day a very memorable one for her owner, taking top honours when she was tapped out as Interbreed Champion of the show.

Reserve Interbreed

Reserve Interbreed went to the Angus Champion owned by Amanda Bogan and Conor Craig, Edwardstown, Co Longford, with Crerogue Elisa J294 by Jerusalem Faraday and her four-month-old heifer calf at foot by Liss Mars.

Charolais Champion went to John O Grady with his January heifer calf Glenree Lexie, sired by Cottage Devon.

Simmental Champion went to the Swanick family, Castlerea, for their 2015 bull calf Tonrevagh Gallant, sired by Clonagh Tiger Gallant.

Belgian Blue Champion went to Jason Tague, Longford, with his 2015-born bull calf.

Commercial

In the commercial ring, classes were judged by PJ Smith, Kells, Co Meath.

David McMahon, Strokestown, Co Roscommon, took home the Commercial Champion title with his 15-month-old Charolais Cross Bullock.

The Reserve Commercial Champion went to the Bonny Baby Calf class winner Noel Claffy, Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath, with his April-born heifer Calf Bubbles, who is sired by BYU and out of a Limousin cow.

Taking home first prize in the Super Beef class was Michael Martin, Moate, Co Westmeath, with his heifer Lucy, sired by BYU and off a CF2 Cow.

Under 12 Young handlers was won by Emma Hynes, Baylin, Athlone. Second place went to Mark Winston, Castlerea. Third place went to Kyle Finneran.

In the Under 18 Young handlers, first place went to Conor Craig, Edwardstown. Second place went to Owen Hester, Castlerea. Third place went to Shane Hynes from Athlone.

The Young Stock Judge Competition was won by Shane Hynes, Athlone. Second place went to Jack Keane, Castlerea. In joint third place were Evan and Luke Shaughnessy.
