Farmers from Kildare, Monaghan, Clare and Mayo have been penalised by Revenue to the tune of €136,778.

Revenue published its most recent list of tax defaulters on Tuesday, 9 September in respect of the period 1 April to 30 June.

A Kildare farmer was penalised €87,332 by Revenue. James Corrigan, with an address at Old Kilcullen, Kilcullen, Co Kildare, was penalised after a court decision in relation to the under-declaration of income tax.

The list of tax defaulters also includes Monaghan farmer Michael Duffy, with an address at Shantonagh, Castleblaney, who was penalised €45,696 for the under-declaration of income tax.

Tax returns

Three other farmers also featured on the list for smaller amounts in relation to failing to provide tax returns, amounting to €3,750 in total.

These included Michael McNamara Co Clare; Alan Morey, Co Clare; and Padraic Naughton, Co Mayo.

The list of tax defaulters published on Tuesday included 25 cases amounting to €8,491,348.
