A smaller than anticipated entry saw 68 bulls catalogued, however a number of private off farm sales meant this was reduced further leaving 40 bulls present.

Adam Watson of the Saunders Limousin herd was giving the job of judge on the night and he found his senior champion in the form of Loghrea Mr Muscle. Brought out by Michael Rattigan, Claremorris, Co. Mayo this bull is out of popular AI bull at the moment, Lodge Hamlet. Having being awarded first prize in the last of the juniors the January 2017 born bull was eventually tapped forward as senior champion. Following close behind to claim the reserve senior championship was Owen Flannery with Birchpark Mighty Mouse, first prize winner of the second class. This bull was sired by Mullary Intrepid while the dam was a Procter’s Cavalier daughter.

In the junior championship it was Gerry Walsh who was out in form with Gerrygullinane Maxibull. This February born bull is sired by Wilodge Cerberus and a grandson of Derrygullinane Elsia, dam of the Limousin congress male champion Derrygullinane Kingbull. Close behind, having stood second to Maxibull in the class and eventually going on to claim the reserve senior championship was Newtown Miller Et from the Richardson family in Newtowngore. This March 2017 born bull is sired by Ronick Hawk and goes back the well known Castleview Rub.

The show for bulls took place on Sunday evening while the show for heifers commenced at 9.30am this morning. This was followed by the sale of both bulls and heifers which started at 11.30am.
