Day two of Longines Irish Champions Weekend, Sunday 10 September, is set to be an exciting finale to the 2017 season at the Curragh, attracting many of the very best horses in training.

The Comer Group International Irish St Leger will take centre stage on the track with the Goffs Vincent O’Brien National Stakes and Moyglare Stud Stakes also forming part of a world class programme of eight races starting at 2pm.

In addition, the race day will feature the Thoroughbred Trail, Parade of Champions, the Longines Prize of Elegance for ladies and men, a Family Fun and an exciting line up of music performers.

The Curragh Thoroughbred Trail kicks off the day with the public having the unique opportunity to visit some of the leading stable yards, stud farms and other equine establishments around the Curragh including Godolphin’s Kildangan Stud, legendary trainers Dermot Weld and John Oxx, veterinary establishments Anglesey Lodge and Sycamore Lodge and many more. Tickets for some of the Trails are still available and must be purchased in advance.

Parade of champions

Racegoers are in for a real treat together with the Parade of Champions taking place after the first race. The impressive line up features Sizing John, winner of the 2017 Cheltenham Gold Cup, Our Duke, winner of the 2017 Irish Grand National and many more.

Un Atout, winner of the prestigious Racehorse to Riding Horse Class at the Dublin Horse Show will also join the parade.

Prize for elegance

The Longines Prize For Elegance boasts an impressive prize fund of €25,000 across the weekend. The most elegant lady at the Curragh will receive an elegant timepiece from Longines and a Kildare Village €3,000 shopping experience to be spent at any of their stores.

She will also receive a year’s complimentary hairdressing at the David Marshall Hair Salon to the value of €2,000. The most elegant gent will also win a Longines timepiece and a €2,000 shopping spree from Kildare Village plus a €500 voucher to spend with David Marshall Hair salon.

There will also be a number of music performances on stage throughout the day including the Newbridge Gospel Choir, Dublin Welsh Male Voice Choir, Viva Manila and the grand finale will be the Connor McKeon band, who will perform after the last race at 6pm.

Day One of Longines Irish Champions Weekend takes place at Leopardstown on Saturday, 9 September.
