There are just over 80,000 tractors licensed in the Republic of Ireland, but what is the most popular brand in your county?

Figures from the Department of Transport show that the Massey Ferguson brand is the most popular in the country, with 18,021 tractors licensed.

Massey Ferguson is most common along the west cost and in the midlands.

Next up is John Deere, with 11,821 tractors licensed in Ireland. These are most popular along the east coast and in Limerick.

The remaining tractors dominating the most popular tractors by county were New Holland and Case/David Brown.

Tractor sales

The most recent new tractor registration figures issued by FTMTA indicate a slight recovery during April after a somewhat disappointing first three months of the year.

Some 203 new units were registered in April, which was an increase on the 196 units registered in the same month of last year.

A total of 903 new tractors have been registered during the first four months of the year, which is a drop of some 13% on 2016.
