According to a Facebook post published on the day following the Virginia Show by the calf's owner, Sandra Murphy, the Holstein Friesian went missing between 6pm and 6.30pm at the show, after the Baileys Class had finished.

Sandra had asked that people share the post and said if anybody was at the show and saw anything, "no matter how insignificant" to please contact the Gardaí in Virginia, Cavan.

However, the calf has since been found and reunited with its owner. The Irish Farmers Journal contacted Sandra for comment but she declined and said the gardaí are looking into it.

"Might be best to let things run their course," she said, adding that she may be in a position to comment at a future stage in the investigation.
