At this year’s show, American judge Paul Trapp will assess over 200 head of dairy cattle in the Eikon Exhibition Centre.

Last year, three breeders from the Republic of Ireland took the top honours across the four dairy breeds in the interbreed championship.

Judge Selwyn Donald from New Zealand tapped forward Evergreen Duplex Ebony as the 2015 supreme interbreed champion. The seven-year-old Holstein cow was exhibited by Carlow breeders Liam and Sandra Murphy of Fenagh. The Mesland Duplex daughter comes from seven generations of VG/EX dams and is from the Canadian Ebony family that was developed by the Dalevalley herd.

A seven-year-old Holstein cow also took the reserve interbreed champion title at last year’s show. Hallow Advent Twizzle 3 was bred by Philip Jones from Gorey, Co. Wexford. The cow is sired by Khw Kite Advent-Red and from the dam Luck-E-JK Linjet Twizzle.

The honourable mention award in the interbreed championship last year went to the supreme Ayrshire champion Cuthill Towers Pam. The November 2009 born cow was exhibited by Christian Keenan from Threemilehouse, Co. Monaghan and is by Cuthill Towers Whitenight

In the Jersey class, Clandeboye estate in Bangor, Co Down, had the breed champion with Clandeboye Jazz Evita. The eight-year-old cow is sired by Rapid Bay Jazzman and from the dam Raughton Lester Evita. Clandeboye estate also had the reserve champion with a September 2013 born in milk heifer Clandeboye Allstar Evita.

Dairy Shorthorn champion was a calved heifer, Kilsally Gill 17th, exhibited by N and R Booth from Dungannon, Co Tyrone. The Stardale Judge Red daughter is from the dam Kilsally Jill 7th.
