This week we list the prices achieved from the recent auction of some rare restored vintage tractors belonging to the late Richard S Moynan of Woodview House, Ballacolla, Co Laois. The top price went to a Ferguson Brown in great condition, which fetched €16,600 under auctioneer Richard Malone’s hammer.

  • Models hamper goes to Donegal

    The winner of our Christmas hamper of models was eightyear-old Conall McGettigan from Drumoghill, Letterkenny, Co Donegal, who was the first correct entry picked from a huge response to the competition. He will have enjoyable Christmas and his father Michael told us that Conall is a tractor fanatic and also loves to be involved in the family farm. Congratulations to Conall and our thanks to Mad for Models for their support and the many people who took part in the competition.

    CMC Country DVD winners

    The winners in our pre-Christmas CMC Country DVD competition were Gerry McNerney, Cloonmacart, Drumlish, Co Longford, and Jerry Hurley, Shanacrane Cross, Dunmanway, Co Cork. Congratulations to Gerry and Jerry and we hope that you enjoy the DVDs.

    Galway model show set for January

    Galway’s Annual Model and Diorama Show will take at the Salthill Hotel, Galway, on Sunday 18 January 2015 from 10am to 6pm. So you might hold back on your Christmas buying until then.

    Mike O’Malley is the organiser of the event and he told us that exhibits will include farm, construction, truck and train dioramas. The exhibitors for the event will be Mad for Models, Kev’s Trucks, T and F Models, Models and More, Perfect 32, WandersOn, and Paint Rite Signs. There will be a private train collector selling off some of his collection at the show. They are all in mint condition and train collectors will be sure to get a bargain. There will also be a stand selling 1:32 scale accessories such as front weights, hitches, linkages, round bales, big and small square bales, road signs, spare parts and other such items.

    Siku returns with new remote control

    Model tractor enthusiasts will be impressed with the return of German model maker Siku to the remote control tractor market. After some problems with the recharging system, a new system has been incorporated in a brand new model that uses replacement batteries.

    This 1:32 scale model of the John Deere 7280R tractor fitted with a John Deere H480 loader is now available from suppliers such as Mad for Models. The model has great detail and impressive functionality but its expensive at €240.

    Autojumble date

    Edré Mills of the Lakeland Vintage Club has been in touch to say that the annual Autojumble will take place on Sunday 11 January in the Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule, Co Longford.
