Irish Country Magazine is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Editor, Irish Country Magazine to join an expanding team. Irish Country Magazine, launched nationwide in March 2012, was inspired by the growing readership of the weekly Irish Country Living supplement with the Irish Farmers Journal, which grew from 145,000 readers in 2010 to 179,000 in 2011.

The role of Assistant Editor is exciting, varied and hands-on. Reporting to the Editor, Irish Country Living, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing content, creative direction and photo shoots for Irish Country Magazine. Other key activities include editing, feature writing, magazine promotion through social media, budget management and PR. You will also research, compile and write stories for Irish County Living publications.

Key requirements for the role: strong experience in and knowledge of women's glossy magazines, working in an Assistant Editor and senior Journalist role. Specific experience in fashion, health and wellbeing, interiors, gardening and features is an advantage. Magazine production management experience including creative direction and photo shoots. Editing and feature writing experience at senior level. Social media, budget management and PR experience. Third level qualification in Journalism or a related discipline. In-depth knowledge of and empathy with needs of dwellers in rural Ireland. High level of writing skills, English and computer literacy. Ability to work to strict deadlines and manage the full magazine production cycle. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

11-month fixed term contract of employment, full-time.
