Revenue officials take to the fields

Galway farmers making silage have had visits from Revenue and Department of Social Protection officials. In once case, officials reportedly arrived at a farmer’s yard when he was making pit silage and requested information relating to where farm film was sourced and information relating to contracting staff. Another time a contractor came out from a restaurant to find officials waiting at his machinery. They questioned him about where he sourced his wrap and purchased machinery.

I also hear reports of Revenue officials checking the legality of casual traders at various agricultural shows. Green diesel tests have also been reported from some shows this summer.
