A big turnout of buyers at Enniskillen Mart on Thursday led to a super day’s trading for cattle. With 1,000 animals forwarded, numbers are holding steady.

In the bullock ring, prices peaked at £1,550, with heavy lots selling from 190p to 237p/kg and a 550kg Charolais making £1,350.

Mid-weight stores sold from 210p to 262p/kg for a 420kg Charolais making £1,100. Lightweight cattle sold from 220p to 277p/kg, with a 380kg Charolais making £1,055.

Heifers sold to £1,375 for a 590kg animal, with mid-weight stores selling from 205p to 235p/kg. Lighter types sold from 205p to 237p/kg, with a 375kg heifer making £890.

Weanlings sold from £680 to £1,055 for a 362kg Charolais steer. Heifers sold from £550 to a top of £985 for a 465kg animal.

Calves sold to £355 for a Charolais bull, with Limousin bulls making £340. Blue bull calves sold to £290 and Hereford calves made £240.

Suckler cows sold to £1,340 for cows with calves at foot. Springing heifers sold from £1,120 to £1,260.

Fat cows sold to £1,600 for an 800kg Charolais, with fleshed cows making 199p/kg, feeding cows selling to 210p/kg and Friesians making 90p/kg.
