Biovial Pearls save dairy cows

Bimeda has laušnched an innovative new oral calcium dose for cows, Bovisal Pearls. The 600ml pack comprises a liquid calcium gel containing sustained release pearls to give the hypocalcaemic cow a sustained release of calcium over a 12-hour period following calving.

Four types of highly bioavailable organic calcium in the liquid are immediately absorbed in the rumen. These calcium sources and the eye-catching Pearls are broken down by enzymes over a matter of hours to give a sustained release of calcium for 12 hours. Just two bottles are needed to cover the first 24-hour risk period post calving, where 75% of milk fevers occur. This means less work in comparison with other oral products which require up to four doses due to their lack of sustained effect.

The four organic sources of calcium are calcium propionate, calcium phosphate, calcium formate and calcium acetate. Bovisal pearls also contain 11g phosphorus, 600mg magnesium and 2.5MJ energy. The energy helps as many cows are in negative energy balance at this stage.
