Four bullocks and two heifers were stolen in the Ravensdale area of Co Louth last night.

It's the second reported cattle theft in Louth this month, after eight cattle were stolen the Allardstown, Knockbridge, area of the county two weeks ago.

The two stolen heifers were due to go to the abbotoir on Monday. A black jeep with stolen plates was spotted in the area around the time the six Angus cattle went missing.

Louth IFA Chairman Matthew McGreehan told the Irish Farmers Journal that cattle rustling has become a big problem in the area.
