Wednesday could bring snow accumulations of up to 3cm, with all areas at risk.

Cold and showery weather will spread in from the Atlantic later tonight. with some of these showers will turn wintry in the north and west. The winds will increase from strong to gale force in places.

Southwest to west winds could reach speeds of between 50 and 65 km/h, with gusts between 90 and 110 km/h during Wednesday. The winds will be strongest at the coasts of the west and northwest.

Temperatures will drop to 1C in some areas tonight and there is a risk of icy patches developing. Tomorrow will be a cold day, with top temperatures of just 2 to 5C. However, with strong and blustery westerly winds, it will feel colder.

However, today will be relatively a mild day. Highs of 8 to 11C are forecast nationally, though rain is expected to become widespread and persistent in the west.
