Last Tuesday’s sale at Lisnaskea Livestock Sales saw another solid trade for most cattle types, with the trade for some better-quality animals quite brisk.

Store heifers sold mainly from £300 over for good-quality continentals to more than £500 over for better-quality heavier store heifers. The majority of stores on offer were lighter types from 400kg to 500kg, but the heavier types were met with stronger demand.

Cows with calves at foot sold to a top price of £1,300 for a cow and a bull calf and up to £1,200 for a cow and heifer calf. Plainer and older types sold from £1,085 upwards.

Store bullocks sold mainly from £400 to £500 over the weight, with lighter weanling bulls from 350kg to 400kg selling mainly at similar prices of £400 to £500 over the weight depending on the quality. Lighter weanling bulls were met with strong demand and sold mainly from £300 to £450 over the weight.

Weanling heifers sold from £280 to £450 over the weight depending on quality.
