Not every farmer out there wants to buy or can afford a new fertiliser spreader. Some farmers don’t have the work to justify a new machine or some are just part-time farming but still want control over when they spread their fertiliser. We visited a few dealers to see what spreaders they had traded in and how much they were asking for them.

Bogballe L2 Plus

This 2014 machine is in very good condition, with little or no signs of wear or rust. Shutter operation is via a single hydraulic connection. Maximum spread width is 24m from this 1.5t capacity machine that also comes with LED lights, hopper cover and rubber flaps at the front preventing material being thrown forwards on to the tractor. This machine is on the market for €4,500 including VAT.

Vicon PS604

This spreader was synonymous across Ireland before the arrival of twin-disc spreaders that are now commonplace. In saying that, there are some farmers who still use them. This example, a Vicon PS604, has a 1t capacity thanks to the hopper extension, hydraulic shutter operation and is on the market for €900 including VAT.

Amazone ZA-X Perfect 1402

This spreader was manufactured in 2004. It comes with a folding hopper-cover, 1,750l capacity, both left- and right-side shutoff and can spread 10-18m. This machine has been well looked after, with signs of used oil applied to all metal surfaces to prevent rusting. This spreader is priced at €1,950 including VAT.

Rauch M863
