Weather did not dampen Monday night’s special sale of suckler cows in Carrigallen Mart, Co Leitrim.

Over 50 lots were on offer which combined a mix of in-calf cows, cows with calves at foot and in-calf heifers. Quality counted with good-quality cow and calf outfits in high demand. Poorer quality and aged cows were harder to shift and some smaller traditional type heifers met an easier trade. Mart manager Helen Kells commented that there was a very good clearance at the special sale with lots of local interest for good-quality lots.
