County executive meetings in Meath, Kilkenny, Wexford, Westmeath, Cork north, Cork central, Louth, Offaly, Wicklow and Dublin have been held in the last few days and none has passed motions calling for the resignation of any of the current members of the IFA executive board.

The current members of the board are deputy and acting president Tim O'Leary, regional presidents Bert Stewart, Tom Turley, James Murphy, James McCarthy and treasurer Jer Bergin.

By not passing motions against the board, the county executives are saying they are content to wait for the outcome of the work currently being undertaken by the IFA's former chief economist Con Lucey, who will report on the IFA's remuneration and governance procedures on Tuesday 15 December.

By contrast, four county executives (west Cork, Sligo, Donegal and Roscommon) have so far called for the resignation of the entire board, while two (Mayo and Galway) have asked for the resignation of all the people who were cc’d on a letter written by Con Lucey in 2014 outlining his concerns regarding the running of the association’s audit committee. Those people are former president Eddie Downey, former general secretary Pat Smith, treasurer Jer Bergin, deputy and acting president Tim O’Leary, former treasurer JJ Kavanagh and IFA financial controller Ken Heade.

Meanwhile, Kerry's county executive has called for the resignation of Tim O'Leary, who last week signalled his intention to run for IFA president after the resignation of Eddie Downey.

O'Leary's prospects were somewhat marred on Tuesday 1 December by Downey's assertion on national radio that his former colleagues "threw" him "under the bus" by insinuating he was alone in signing off on the controversial €2m severance package given to former IFA general secretary Pat Smith.
