The Three Amigos are set to return to the concert scene after a lapse of three and a half years.

Robert Mizzell, Jimmy Buckley and Patrick Feeney are teaming up again for 10 shows and will play their opening date in the McWilliam Park Hotel in Claremorris on Wednesday, 6 January.

Since their last date together back in Cavan in 2012, they have concentrated their efforts on their own solo careers. But a reunion was always on the cards and tour manager Joe Finnegan feels the time is now right for the comeback.

“Rehearsals are going brilliant and the lads are mad to get out there together again. The area that creates the most difficulty in organising a tour for The Amigos is working around their own individual hectic schedules and getting dates on which all three are available.

“They have an album on release to coincide with the January tour and they have already spent two days in the studio with Jonathon Owens in Granard recording fresh material for their next album, which will be released in late 2016.

“Once they do their last show in the National Concert Hall, that will be it for The Three Amigos until January 2017. But right now the whole focus is on the upcoming tour, with Jonathon Owens as musical director for the accomplished band,” says Joe.

Robert Mizzell has two decades on the Irish scene behind him now. He came to Ireland from Louisiana in the 1990s and currently resides in Westmeath. He fronts The Country Kings and has also led groups on trips to Nashville and other places over the years.

Jimmy Buckley lives near Athenry but is a native of Doon in Co Limerick. Jimmy also came to prominence in the 1990s. His biggest solo hit remains Your Wedding Day, a song from the pen of Henry McMahon of The Mainliners. Sligo man Patrick Feeney is the youngest of the trio and has been singing country and Irish ballads for the last decade or so. He has a special fondness for the traditional ballads and fronted his own concert shows some years ago.

The Amigos will also feature some comedy sketches and banter throughout their shows on this tour.

The Three Amigos made their first public appearance together since 2012 when they performed on the recent Late Late Show country special on RTÉ. They are no strangers to televisions, having appeared on various RTÉ, UTV, TG4, BBC Northern Ireland and the Sky Country channels over the last few years.

After their opening night in Claremorris, the lads head to The Mullingar Park Hotel on 7 January and to the INEC in Killarney on Monday, 11 January. Their other concert shows are in the Radisson Hotel, Sligo (13 January), Armagh City Hotel (14 January), Hotel Kilmore, Cavan (18 January), Kinghtsbrook Hotel, Trim County (20 January), Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe (21 January), UCL, Limerick, (27 January) and the National Concert Hall, Dublin, on 11 February.
