The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said that the animals disappeared from a barn in the Castlebane Road area of Castlederg near Strabane between 8pm on Friday 5 February and 1pm on Saturday 6 February.

The area is only 10 minutes’ drive from Co Donegal. Proximity with the border has been a common point in numerous livestock theft incidents recorded in Northern Ireland and in the Republic in recent months.

PSNI Constable Chris Plews said: ”I would ask anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact Strabane police station on the non-emergency number 101. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
