The third annual Holycross Cut-Loose Country Music Festival will be staged in Thurles, Co Tipperary, this Sunday, 20 July. The six-hour jamboree runs from 1pm to 7pm. The featured artists this year are Declan Nerney, Michael English, Jimmy Buckley, Mike Denver, Robert Mizzell and Louise Morrissey.

The major show takes place at the Holycross GAA pitch, around three miles from Thurles in the heart of the Premier County. This is a real community effort, coordinated by the Holycross-Ballycahill GAA Club and friends. The excellent organising and stewarding of the shows over the past two years has won many plaudits.

Tipperary has always been a strong heartland for country music. Country shows on both Tipp FM and Tipperary Mid West radio stations enjoy major popularity across the county and region.

Holycross is easy to access and is a great location for a country music afternoon like this.

Should weather conditions be rather inclement on the day, there is a covered stand along one side of the pitch that will accommodate all visitors.

All six artists will perform for an hour and Declan Nerney gets the show on the road at 1pm. Declan has strong bonds with the area and his niece, Una Healy from Tipperary, is a member of the well-known UK pop group, The Saturdays.

Michael English will be next up, making the short trip down the road from Portlaoise and giving the patrons plenty to smile about.

Jimmy Buckley takes the third spot at 3pm, while Mike Denver is the featured act at 4pm. Both are stalwarts of the country scene for several years and are assured of a warm welcome in Tipperary.

American-born Robert Mizzell takes to the stage at 5pm. Robert has a string of well-known songs, including Say You Love Me, and he is sure to go down a treat. Tipperary singer Louise Morrissey will take the festival home when she provides the entertainment for the final hour from 6pm to 7pm.

A large dance floor will facilitate those who wish to dance, while ample seating is also available for those who prefer to sit back and enjoy the music.

Concert-goers can enjoy easy access to and from the festival venue, as well as ample free parking in addition to a host of hospitality facilities.

Gates open at 12 noon. Tickets, priced at just €20, are available at local outlets which are displayed on the www.cutloosecountryfestival.com website. Tickets will also be available on the day.
