There are a number of schemes that farmers are registered in that have fast-approaching deadline dates.

Basic Payment Scheme

The most important scheme deadline date that is fast-approaching is the deadline for applications to the 2017 Basic Payment Scheme.

The scheme is worth €1.5bn to Irish farmers, with the deadline on Monday 15 May for applications.

The same date applies for the submission of applications under the 2017 National Reserve/Young Farmers Scheme and all supporting documentation must be in by this date too in order to avoid late penalties.

As well as those, 15 May is also the last date for submission of Transfer of Entitlements applications.

GLAS

For farmers in GLAS III, there are a range of actions that need to be completed by 31 May.

These include the sowing of wild bird cover and the completion of bird and bat boxes.

A full list of the actions that need to be completed under GLAS III is on the Department of Agriculture’s website.

Knowledge Transfer Programme

Farmers who are enrolled in the Knowledge Transfer (KT) Programme have until 31 May to complete all actions under the scheme.

This includes having attended five KT meetings and completing a herd health plan by this date.
