It is forecast to be a warm and muggy night on Friday, with thundery rain in many places and temperatures not dropping below 12 to 16 degrees.

A status yellow rain warning is in place from 9pm Friday night for Connacht, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick.

Heavy thundery rain is forecast from Friday evening until early Saturday, with accumulations of 25mm to 40mm generally, but locally up to 50mm possible.

Before dawn on Saturday, two further status yellow rain warnings are to come into effect:

  • From midnight, accumulations of 20mm to 30mm are to fall in Donegal.
  • From early morning, accumulations of 20mm to 30mm of thundery rain are to fall in Leinster, Cavan and Monaghan.

    Saturday will be another humid day, with heavy, thundery rain for most of Saturday morning.

    Fresher weather with sunny spells will develop over Munster in the morning and over Connacht and Leinster in the afternoon and evening, with temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees.

    On Saturday night, thundery rain will clear from Ulster to give a generally dry night with clear spells. Cooler than recently, with temperatures falling to between 7 and 10 degrees.

    Sunday

    Met Éireann has forecast for it to be a dry day on Sunday with sunny spells. It will be fresher than recently, with highest temperatures just 15 to 20 degrees in light breezes.

    Fog patches are forecast on Sunday night, with temperatures falling to between 6 and 10 degrees.
